I am dressed as the kuchisake-onna, based on a well-known urban legend in Japan. A woman with a scarred mouth that runs from ear-to-ear, wearing either a beige or blood red coat, she wields a pair of scissors. When confronting children, she’ll wear a surgical mask, asking, “Am I pretty?” Removing it, she’ll ask once more, “How about now?” A yes or no answer will leave the victim with a cruel fate.

I wanted to upload a photoset, but I had to make do with just linking to my massive tumblr post instead. This is my own created character, La Chupacabra, that I made for Halloween 2007. I made the mask, the model is me, the photographer is me (haha, the myspace angles aren’t too much of a giveaway, are they?). All in all about 9-10 or more hours of work went into this mask and its application (over several days! I’m not THAT dedicated!). To this day it’s still my proudest, most favorite piece!
I wore it all day, from 6am to about 11pm, and had a lot of fun being overall creepy towards people and staring at passing cars. How did I drink/eat? With a straw through the free corner of my mouth, and I had to cut food up into itty tiny pieces and delicately shove it in there with a fork XD
